Rooted in sustainability
We take our responsibility to operate sustainably seriously. Timber is a naturally sustainable choice and we source our timber from producers who don’t just provide exceptional quality products, but whose environmental credentials are second to none.
As demand for timber-based products grows our expertise and experience means that we’re ready to help our customers and the industry achieve its net-zero carbon goals. But it’s not just about our core products, it’s also important to us that we continue to create a safe, secure, and sustainable workplace by embracing new ideas and innovations that allow our people to thrive.
Environmental Policy
At James Donaldson Timber, we are committed to assessing the environmental impact of
our methods of manufacture and materials used for all of our business activities. We look to use
certified timber in all of our products and reduce the environmental impact of construction wherever
possible.
We aim to show that our goods are produced in an environmentally responsible manner. To do this and
respond to our customers' needs and expectations, we keep sight of the wide range of raw materials;
production processes and countries of operation in producing our goods.
James Donaldson Timber has achieved registration to continued chain of custody. This system ensures that timber is
guaranteed to meet environmental guidelines from the forest floor to the shop floor.
We recognise that timber, as a building material, is a truly renewable resource when properly managed,
so fully endorse the requirements of our FSC®-C015696 chain of custody scheme, licence no FSC-C015696
and PEFC licence no 16-37-112, to ensure that where possible our timber is legally and sustainably sourced. Look for our FSC®
certified products.
James Donaldson Timber was the first Donaldson site to achieve certification to FSC® in May 2002. They later added PEFC
certification in May 2004. FSC® certified products available on request.

regularly checked for quality control.
CE Information
For many years, wood and wood products used in the construction industry in the UK have been covered by
a range of British Standards and more recently, European Standards. These provide designers, specifiers,
buyers and users with assurance of fitness for purpose and performance.
In an effort to reduce the technical differences between the different European countries, the
Construction Products Directive (CPD) and CE marking were introduced.
What is CE Marking?
CE marking is a mandatory conformity marking for products sold in Europe. The CE marking is the
manufacturer's declaration that the product meets the requirements of the applicable EC directives.
Can James Donaldson Timber offer CE Marked Products?
James Donaldson Timber can offer graded timber, linings and claddings.
